President Trump slams FBI raids on Michael Cohen’s office

PRESIDENT Trump has struck out after his personal lawyer's offices were raided by the FBI and called it a "total witch hunt" and the "lawyer's privilege's privilege is dead".

The president sent tweets early in the morning to his personal attorney Michael Cohen, had his offices raid with records seized on a number of subjects including a $ 130,000 payment to American pornstar Stormy Daniels, who said she had sex with Mr.. Trump in 2006

Mr Trump has refused to sleep with Daniels and any knowledge of the payment, made just days before the election in 2016.

The lawyer was supervised by the American lawyer's office in Manhattan and was based in part on a reference from Mueller, Cohen's lawyer said, Stephen Ryan.

"The US law firm in New York decides to conduct their investigation through search warranties is completely inappropriate and unnecessary," said Ryan in a statement.

"It resulted in the unnecessary confiscation of protected lawyer client communications between a lawyer and his clients."

Monday, a furious President Trump said it was a "disgrace", the FBI broke into his lawyer's office. He has repeatedly claimed to be a victim of a witch hunt in Washington and has denied any cooperation with Russian officials during the campaign.

The president also called Mueller's investigation "an attack on our country", which leads to new speculation that he might

Mueller be appointed to the role after the president had fought former FBI director James Comey.

Mr Cohen has acknowledged that he paid Daniels $ 130,000 of his own money before the election. He also did not say that the Trump company or the campaign knew it and he was not refunded.

Search options are often used by law enforcement agencies where they think someone has evidence that can be detained or hidden.

To achieve one, agents must convince a judge that they are likely to cause criminal activity and they think they will find signs of wrongdoing in a search. A warrant requires high-level approval within the Justice Department, and the agency guidelines impose further obstacles when the lawsuit is a lawyer, the Associated Press reports.

Last month, Stormy Daniels claimed in a narrative interview that she had an affair with President Trump. Her lawyer, Michael Avenatti, has said he will deposit Mr Trump to ask him questions about the payment and whether he knew about the agreement or not.
