A SAILOR has drowned during a sailing ship in Port Phillip Bay this afternoon.
The man in his 60's, which has yet to be identified, drowned after his boat curled off Brighton foreshore shortly after. 12.30.
It is understood that the man was pulled from the sea by other seamen who performed CPR on their boat, while waiting for paramedics to arrive.
He was taken to the Royal Brighton Yacht Club but could not be revived and died on the spot.
The Yacht Club canceled a & # 39; Off the Beach & # 39; race this afternoon because of "strong win and bad forecast", but the club officials would not confirm whether that was the same race the man participated in.
The police will prepare a report for coroner.
