Andre Russell 41 off 12 IPL highlights, Glenn Maxwell, Kolkata Knight Riders beat Delhi Daredevils

A BLAZING 41 off 12 from Andre Russell has driven Kolkata Knight Riders into a 71-run victory over Delhi Daredevils despite a quickfire 47 from Glenn Maxwell.

Thanks to Nitesh Rana (59 out of 35) and Russell, Kolkata posted 8-200 after being sent to bats.

Delhi lost wickets in clusters in response and was thrown out to 129 in 14.2 overs. Spinners Sunil Narine (3-18) and Kuldeep Yadav (3-32) completed the route.

"The wrist spiders are chosen in IPL for a purpose. They do a good job for us," said Kolkata Captain Dinesh Karthik.

Kolkata earned his second victory while Delhi led his third loss in four matches.

After losing the throw and batting, Kolkata was given a platform by Robin Uthappa (35) and Chris Lynn (31) at the top of the order. Delhi seemed to be in control of 4-117 after Kolkata lost Karthik at 19 in 14. Then Russell was dropped 7 by Jason Roy and Russell took full advantage.

He smashed six secs from Mohammad Shamis two overs that cost seamer 42 rounds, and Rana finished his half-century without 30 balls. Trent Boult, who bowled a first girl to Lynn, returned and cleaned Russell with a yorker.

Rana went to Gautam Gambhir when he was deceived by Chris Morris's slower delivery. Rana 59 out of 35 deliveries comprised five four and four six. Delhi leg spin Rahul Tewatia took 3-18, all his wickets last over. Delhi's chase stood at 24-3.

Glenn Maxwell (47 out of 22) and Rishabh Pant (43 out of 26) gave Delhi a glimpse of hope with a 62-fourth fourth wicket of 33 balls.

But Kolkata came back hard and Delhi lost his last seven wickets to 43 runs in 5.5 overs.

Yadav rushed the collapse as Pant and Maxwell both got caught in depth while they went too big shots from left arm spins and Narine ran through

"It will be hard against three quality spiders like theirs," said Gambhir, who switched from Kolkata to lead Delhi.

"We had plans for him (Russell), but when he walks it's hard for bowlers to complete the plans.

" We still have 10 more games, a lot of work to do. "
