FOLLOWING the likes of Will and Grace, Roseanne, Full House and Murphy Brown, another ‘90s TV favourite is headed for a revival — and no, it’s not Friends.

Hit show Mad About You, which ran from 1992 until 1999, is set to make a comeback.

According to Deadline, sources have revealed that after months of talks, the show’s stars Helen Hunt and Paul Reiser have signed a deal with Sony Pictures to reprise their roles as married couple, Jamie and Paul Buchman.

The reboot is said to focus on the couple as they deal with their now 17-year-old daughter, Mabel, moving out of home and going to college.

Hunt spoke about the possibility of a revival on Ellen last week, and said she and Reiser had been meeting and talking about how to remake the show.

“I will say, Paul Reiser is in my kitchen a good amount because we’re talking about how to make it and not wreck it, because we’re proud of what we did.”

Reiser co-created the comedy with Danny Jacobson.

“If we can find the story to tell, and anybody’s interested, I’d be open to it,” Reiser told People magazine in October.

Reiser, recently appeared in the Netflix hit Stranger Things, while Hunt has focused predominantly on her film career since the series ended, winning an Oscar in 2012 for As Good As It Gets.

She stops short of confirming the reboot, but says she “hopes it is” going to happen.

There has been no mention as to whether other cast members from the show, including Hank Azaria, Lisa Kudrow, John Pankow and Anne Ramsay will appear in the remake.

The final episode of the series (which aired in May 1999), actually flashed forward to a grown-up Mabel, who, like her father, is a filmmaker and has made a documentary about her parents’ lives.
