SYDNEY is tamed by a fiery blur as firefighters continue to burn after a big flame that threatened home in Sydney's southwest this week.
The fire that is currently burning in the Holsworthy Range and around Barden Ridge is now contained, but crews will remain on stage all day to monitor and consolidate confinement lines around the fire.
Smoke from previous recovery operations affects both the southwest and the larger southern region and the blue mountains.
Liverpool and Chullora are the worst affected areas that detect a "bad" air quality assessment. Chullora also has little visibility.
Hazen has received a warning from NSW Health that children, elderly adults and people with cardiovascular conditions are most susceptible to the effects of air pollution and excessive smoke.
"If you have asthma or pulmonary disease, reduce outdoor activities, if the smoking levels are high and if shortness of breath or cough develops, take your reliever medicine or seek medical attention.
" Asthma patients must follow their asthma action plan and take their soothing medication where necessary. If symptoms become worse seek medical attention.
