Worker dies at Perth wastewater plant

An entrepreneur has died while working on an upgrade of sewage treatment plants in Perth's south.

WorkSafe investigators were called to the Woodman Point facility after the accident Friday morning.

A spokesman from St. John Ambulance said the man was considered to be caught under a steel beam.

Water Corporation's CEO Sue Murphy said she was deeply sad and expressed her sympathy with her family and colleagues.

She said that the company had not yet had full details of the incident and would fully cooperate with the police and WorkSafe.

The plant is expanded to accommodate a growing drainage area, where works are expected to be complete next year.
