Man hospitalised after house fire in Smithfield Plains

A man has been taken to the hospital who suffers from smoke inhalation after fire in a house in Smithfield Plains.

Police and fire crews were sent to Saint Rd just before noon. 18:00 on Thursday in response to reports that smoke was swinging from a house in the street.

Firemen extinguished the flames, but the property continued to cause significant damage.

The inhabitants of the house were evacuated and taken to the hospital for treatment of inhalation of smoke.

Fire causes will participate in the scene to determine the cause of inferno.
